New legislation states that anyone with a septic tank discharging into a watercourse must replace it or upgrade it by 1 January 2020, or sooner if the property is sold before this date, or if the Environment Agency finds that it is causing pollution.
This customer bought a property and afterwards found that the old septic tank was not working as it should. It turned out that the soakaway was blocked and it was not worth renewing it.
